There has been a strong rise in the number of donations given by workplaces over the past year, according to the latest figures from the Australian Taxation Office.
The last 12 months have seen a 34 per cent increase in charity giving, with the average donation now $262 – $60 higher than in 2013/14.
“Technology has made it easier for companies to offer workplace giving, but importantly it’s just much more accessible to employees, as we know technology does make things much more accessible,” she said.
“I think the other thing is that we’re… seeing more and more companies starting to engage with technology so that they can actually let their staff give to any charity they would like to.”
Providing charitable opportunities could play a strong role in attracting younger workers, as well as boosting morale – leading to happier workers and improved productivity.
